Car service on Öland
Regular service extends vehicle life and keeps important maintenance intervals on track. We service everything from lawn mowers to buses at our workshop in Löttorp.
Car
The family car is our most common guest — families, commuters, summer residents. Daily trips around Löttorp or up to Byxelkrok add up to 20,000 km a year before you notice.
Miss the service interval and you lose the warranty on newer cars — oil also degrades faster than you'd think on short runs. We work to the manufacturer's schedule and stamp the service book so it shows when you sell.

The estate is the Öland family's workhorse — fully loaded on holiday, roof box in July, tow bar hooked up for the spring clean-up trip. It covers more miles than most people realise.
Rear brakes and rear suspension wear faster on an estate when the boot is usually full — you can see it on the discs after 60,000 km. We look extra hard at the rear wear parts and check the tow bar sits where it should.

SUVs are getting more common on Öland — the extra ground clearance is welcome on the gravel roads down to the sea, and most have four-wheel drive as a winter comfort. They're also heavier than they look.
The all-wheel-drive differentials have their own oils that are easy to forget — skip the 60,000 km change and they start to clunk in corners and can cost tens of thousands to repair. We service the drivetrain to spec and check the air suspension if it has any.

A van is a working tool — the joiner in Löttorp drives his every day, the bakery runs deliveries at dawn. It often covers 40,000–60,000 km a year, more than a regular car in two.
At that mileage you hit both the time and the kilometre interval in the same year — skip it and you lose the warranty. We schedule the service outside your busy hours so the van sits still for the shortest possible time.

A motorhome mostly stands still — maybe 5,000 km a year — but when it does run, it runs far, often fully loaded, down towards southern Europe. Many we see have a big Fiat or Mercedes engine that doesn't like sitting still.
Time-based service matters more than mileage here — oil and fluids age even when the motorhome sits. We check engine, brakes, coolant and tyre age (sidewalls crack after six years) so you don't end up stranded in Germany.

The tractor is the heart of every Öland farm — cuts hay, clears snow, hauls trailers, ploughs fields. It doesn't stand still for long when the season's on, and a breakdown in May or August costs real money.
The hydraulic oil and filters need changing before every season — contaminated oil wrecks the pump, and that's the most expensive part on the tractor. We run the full service in March or September, before haymaking or ploughing starts.

Trucks on Öland run shorter legs than mainland hauliers but usually fully loaded — gravel, feed, building supplies. Drivers know every hour parked up is lost income.
Statutory inspections and service intervals are tighter on a truck, and missing them means a fail at inspection. We service with same-day or next-morning turnaround — book ahead so we have the right filter and oil on the shelf.

The buses we see are mostly local transit or charter for tourists — in summer they run nonstop between Borgholm, Byxelkrok and Böda. Passengers expect comfort and safety in equal measure.
Brakes, steering and tyres on a bus carry the safety of 40–50 people — there's no margin for cutting corners. We schedule service outside the timetable, often evenings or Sundays, so the bus is back on the road Monday morning.

The mower sits in the shed all winter and is suddenly expected to perform in May. On Öland that often means a ride-on or a larger walk-behind machine working hard on a windy plot with sandy soil.
Petrol left standing turns gummy in three or four months and clogs the carburettor — that's the top reason a mower won't start in spring. We change oil, spark plug and air filter, sharpen the blade and flush the fuel system so you're cutting on the first evening of the season.

A moped or A-tractor is often the first vehicle in the household — a teenager rides it to school, a summer resident uses it for the shops. Short trips, but in all weather year-round.
Short trips mean the oil never gets properly warm and the chain rusts faster than you'd think in salty sea air. We change oil, grease the chain, adjust the brakes and check the lights — safety items that are easy to forget but noticed instantly if the police stop you.

A motorcycle on Öland is a seasonal machine — out in April, in by October. Many riders do touring or sport, and the straights between Böda and Byxelkrok are a popular weekend trip.
Brake fluid absorbs moisture over winter and loses its boiling point — on a bike with only two discs you notice it immediately. We run the pre-season service in March–April: oil, brake fluid, chain tension and a lap round the whole bike before you point it towards Böda.

- schedule
Book before the rush
March–April and October–November are our busiest months. Call two weeks ahead and you'll get a slot that suits you — otherwise it may take a while.
- savings
Stamp the service book
At resale a fully stamped service book is worth SEK 5,000–15,000 on the asking price. Always ask us to stamp it — it's included.
- check_circle
Follow time, not just km
Oil and fluids age even when the car sits. If you drive very little, still service yearly — otherwise corrosion starts from the inside.

Keep the oil receipt
If you bring your own oil, keep the receipt. Some manufacturers require proof of oil specification for warranty claims.
